Massachusetts has a high number of rehab programs in relation to its geographical size. There are more than 320 treatment facilities throughout the state, with the bulk of them being closer to the East Coast. These centers combine to provide substance abuse services for about 45,000 people per day. However, as is the case with most states, just about 10 percent of the people receiving treatment are in an inpatient or residential rehab program.
