In a single-day count, 3,900 people in Alaska were enrolled in substance use treatment, which was an increase from 3,464 a few years prior.

Among individuals in Alaska enrolled in a drug or alcohol rehab program in a single-day count, 13.8% were in treatment for drug use only, 30.1% were in treatment for alcohol use only, and 56.1% were in treatment for both drug and alcohol use.

In Alaska, about 47,000 people aged 12 or older were dependent on or abused alcohol within the year prior to being surveyed. The percentage did not change significantly over this period. About 16,000 people in the state abused or were dependent on illicit drugs within the past year.

About 34,000 adults in Alaska aged 21 or older reported heavy alcohol use within the past month.

Among people in Alaska aged 12 or older with alcohol dependence or abuse, about 6,000 received treatment for their alcohol use within the past year.

In a single-day count, 148 individuals in Alaska were receiving methadone as part of their substance use treatment, and 20 were receiving buprenorphine. Both of these numbers have remained fairly steady and low by comparison.

In Alaska, among people aged 12 or older with illicit drug dependence or abuse, about 2,000 received treatment for their illicit drug use within the past year.
